Aion 2 Kina Guide: Bound Kina, the Market and Trading
How Kina works in Aion 2 on EU/NA: bound and unbound Kina, the 1,000,000 daily cap, what pays the most, the Market and membership, and Kina Chests.
On this page
Kina pays for almost every upgrade in Aion 2: enhancing, Substance Morph, crafting and the vouchers that turn into gear. It comes in two kinds that don't behave the same, it has a daily cap, and the ways to move it between players are narrower than in most MMOs. This guide explains all of it for the EU/NA client, so you know which Kina you're earning and what you can do with it.
Every rule and number below comes from the EU client data. Tips that are our opinion are marked as advice.
In 30 seconds
- There are two kinds of Kina.
Kina (Bound) comes from quests, NPC sales and Exploration dungeons and stays on your character.
Kina (unbound) comes mostly from Conquest, Transcendence and raid cubes and is the only kind the Market and Kina Chests accept.
- Bound Kina is spent first. When a price takes "Kina (All)", the game uses your bound Kina before touching the unbound kind.
- You can gain 1,000,000 unbound Kina a day. Past that, an "Item Drop and Obtain Restriction" stops your loot until the daily reset at provisional server time.
- Selling on the Market needs the membership. Without it you have no sale slots; with it, 10.
- Kina Chests move Kina between your characters. Substance Morph packs unbound Kina into a chest for a 10% fee, and the chest fits in Server Storage.
Bound and unbound Kina
The client tracks three Kina values. You only earn the first two; the third is their total.
| Kina | What it is | Where it comes from | What only it can do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stays on the character | Quests, selling to NPCs, Exploration dungeon cubes | Nothing extra: most costs accept it | |
| Can change hands | Conquest, Transcendence and Sanctuary cubes, Market sales | Market purchases, Kina Chests | |
| Both added together | What enhancing, Arcana, Theostones, Legions and Market fees charge |
Every item in the client sells to NPCs for bound Kina, so emptying your bags at a merchant never gives you tradeable Kina. Unbound Kina comes from the endgame cubes. Here is what a full clear pays at level 45 (final boss and two mid-bosses):
| Dungeon | Unbound Kina per full clear |
|---|---|
| Draupnir, Krao Cave (Conquest) | 200,000 |
| Vakron Sky Island, Urugugu Canyon (Conquest) | 300,000 |
| Fire Temple, Ferocious Horn Den (Conquest) | 400,000 |
| Transcendence, stages 1 to 4 | 300,000, 360,000, 420,000, 480,000 |
| Abyssal Forge: Ludra | 1,000,000 from its boss cube |
The same dungeons on Exploration difficulty pay bound Kina instead (for example 40,000 per boss in Draupnir). Heavy players should know that cube Kina shrinks after many clears on the same server in a week; our level 45 guide has the numbers.
The daily cap
The client caps the unbound Kina you can gain at 1,000,000 a day. When you reach it, you get a status called Item Drop and Obtain Restriction ("item drops are restricted due to reaching maximum Kina value") until the daily reset at server time.
Three Tier 3 Conquest clears (1,200,000) or one Sanctuary boss cube are enough to reach it. Their three cubes cost 120 Odyle Energy to open (40 each), exactly one day's refill. Advice: on a long farming day, put your Conquest cubes first and plan open-world farming for after the reset, not after the cap.
Moving Kina between players
Two systems move value between players in the EU client, and one moves Kina between your own characters.
The Market
The Market opens at level 45. In the EU client it is a membership feature: the membership's description covers buying and registering items, and a character without it has 0 sale slots (10 with it). Sales pay out in unbound Kina, and listing charges a registration fee. The Market can warn you when your price is far above or below the recent average, so check the average yourself.
Only items marked tradeable can be listed. Gear that binds when you pick it up never can; gear that binds when you Soul Bind it can be sold until you bind it.
Kina Chests
Substance Morph turns unbound Kina into a Kina Chest from level 30, for a 10% fee:
| Chest | Cost in unbound Kina |
|---|---|
| 440,000 | |
| 2,200,000 | |
| 11,000,000 |
A chest can't be traded directly, but it can be placed in Server Storage, so another of your characters on the server can take it out and open it. The membership's Quna Exchange also lets you sell or buy chests for Quna, with up to 10 listings.
Personal Trade
The client contains a direct trade window (both characters level 45, 5 trades a day, up to 12 items, a fee on the Kina handed over). The client's older membership texts list it as a membership perk, and the EU/NA membership doesn't, so don't plan around it until you've seen it work on your server.
Where your Kina goes
The big costs at 45, from the client:
| Cost | Kina |
|---|---|
| Enhancing gear | From a few thousand per level to hundreds of thousands per attempt on Unique +11 and above |
| 6,837,000 per item | |
| Gear Change Voucher to a selection chest (Substance Morph) | 500,000 or 1,000,000 |
| Duty quest rerolls | 1,000, then 2,500, 6,000, 14,000, 35,000, 85,000 and 200,000 |
| Creating a Legion | 100,000 |
| Refunding a Daevanion node | 500 |
Our Item Level 1,400 guide lists what each point of Item Level costs in Kina, cheapest first, and the Enhancement Planner shows the expected cost of any enhance level.
Advice:
- Spend bound Kina freely. It can't do anything else, and the game spends it first anyway.
- Keep unbound Kina for what only it can buy: Market purchases, and Kina Chests if you need to move Kina to someone.
- Don't reroll duty quests past the third or fourth try. The price climbs to 200,000.
Making Kina at 45
- Open every Conquest cube. It's the steadiest unbound Kina, and Odyle Energy refills on its own (120 a day).
- Sell tradeable drops if you have the membership.
Wrathful Mind is tradeable and every crafter needs it for the Dragon Lord recipes.
- Clear your one-time sources. Each of your region's Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds pays 15,000 Kina on its first clear (see the Item Level 1,400 guide).
- Sell junk to NPCs. It only pays bound Kina, but bound Kina pays for enhancing.
The membership and Kina
The EU/NA membership is a 30-day pass. These perks touch Kina:
| Perk | Effect |
|---|---|
| Market | 10 sale slots (none without) |
| Quna Exchange | Sell or buy Kina Chests for Quna, up to 10 listings |
| Wind Breeze Merchants | An extra shop |
| Remote Storage | Server and character storage from anywhere |
The rest of the membership (Odyle Energy, festival keys) is in our daily and weekly routine.
FAQ
Why do monsters stop dropping loot in the evening? You reached 1,000,000 unbound Kina for the day. The restriction lifts at the daily reset ( server time).
Can I send Kina to my alt? Yes, with a Kina Chest: pack unbound Kina into a chest (10% fee), put it in Server Storage and open it on the alt. Both characters must be on the same server, and our alts guide covers what else Server Storage takes.
Can I sell without the membership? Not on the Market: without it you have no sale slots.
Is bound Kina worth less? For your own upgrades, no: most prices accept it and spend it first. It only can't leave your character.
