In the gameGame clientA den of the Ferocious Horn Mau tribe, located in the Abyss. Through constant use of Fafnite, the Ferocious Horn Mau managed to survive within the Abyss, but many lives were lost on the way.

On this page

Ferocious Horn Den is a Mau den deep in the Abyss, and an Expedition with a high Item Level gate at the level cap. Both versions open with the same gate; Conquest adds a much longer cube counter and the final boss's enrage timer. Its bosses lean on coordination more than on dodging: orbs to burst, souls to collect, a prey to protect and hits to share. The panels above answer whether you can enter and what you get. Below: the way through the den, each boss with the casts that matter, and what to do with the cubes they leave. For how this dungeon fits among the others, see the dungeon overview, the endgame PvE ladder and what to do at the level cap.

Advice
  • Phazkhi says that avoiding the Mau is a valid way through: skip the packs you can, and keep your time for the bosses.
  • Use the Bomb Chest on the way. A bomb opens the Wooden Barricade, and the guide asks you to clear the Totem Shamans and Duduka quickly with bombs too.
  • Bind every Kibelisk the guide points out (each bind takes 5 s), above all the last bind point before the final boss: a wipe there then costs you a short walk.
  • After the second mini-boss you ride an Updraft back to the surface. The guide warns of steep drops on the way: move carefully, a fall wastes the run's time.

AdviceHow to beat Watchdog Kwapo
  • At most every 78 s Kwapo makes a summoning cast, and the guide's line on it is the whole fight: before Kwapo starts howling, burst as many lightning orbs as you can. Thunder Cry makes unseen objects appear; what they do is not in the client data. Split the job before the pull: ranged players burst the orbs, the tank keeps Kwapo turned away. What the howl does if orbs remain, and how many orbs appear, is not in the client data.
  • Its charge runs down a lane 20 m long and 5 m wide, marked for only 1 s: never stand in a line between Kwapo and its target.
  • A circle of 6 m knocks down for 2 s, and the frontal swipes leave Bleed for 20 s: everyone but the tank stays behind.
  • The soul-summon row marked Conquest is an attack of Necromancer Duanka, the next boss: Kwapo does not cast it.

AdviceHow to beat Necromancer Duanka
  • Soul Caller is the raid-wide cast: an alert banner 8 s ahead, then a circle and rings around the boss that strike out to 24 m, with extra damage scaled on max HP (inside 12 m a hit can kill you outright) and a stun of 3 s. Phazkhi says it plainly: get away.
  • At most every 55 s the boss calls the souls of the Mau and absorbs them. The guide's counter: collect the soul orbs on the altar and defeat the Mau souls before the boss absorbs them. Give the altar to players who are free when the cast starts, usually ranged damage dealers and a healer, while the rest kill the souls; where the altar stands is not in the client data.
  • Its cone reaches 12 m over 120°, marked for 1.2 s: keep the party behind the boss.
  • The poison-flower summon row marked Conquest is a boss attack from another dungeon: Duanka does not cast it, so ignore it.

The banner gives you time to run: past 24 m the rings no longer hit (the last ring, out to 35 m, deals no damage). The guide also warns about lightning souls the boss sends out in every direction: keep moving between them rather than standing still on a line out from the boss. Their path is not in the client data. Melee start moving the moment the banner appears.

What Ferocious Horn Nuakum says (cues you can hear)
  1. When Frenzy starts“Ever fiercer, ever sharper!”
  2. On pull“Commence the hunt!”
  3. On death“I lost... But how?”
AdviceHow to beat Ferocious Horn Nuakum
  • In Conquest the enrage timer runs out at 05:00. After it Frenzy gives the boss +200% damage and +100% combat speed: treat the timer as the damage check of the run. Exploration has no enrage timer.
  • The prey: at most every 20 s Nuakum picks a player, and his doppelganger charges at them. Somebody must block the charge, and the circle under the prey's feet tells the party what to do: a large circle, the prey takes it alone; a small circle, everyone gathers on the prey to share the damage.
  • Fafnite Energy: Nuakum creates it with a 3 s cast. Drag his attacks onto it before it explodes, then detonate it, as the guide says.
  • His twin strike: a 3 s cast at most every 45 s, with extra damage scaled on max HP, that leaves Hunt Mark on the player hit for 8 s. The guide's answer: take turns blocking it.
  • Most of his front attacks add a stack of Prey, a bleed. At full stacks it turns into Ruptured Prey: after 4 s a bleed zone forms where you stand. Step out of it; the tank drops it away from the melee.

Ferocious Horn Nuakum“My dear prey! Will you fight together, or go it alone?”
    Advice

Agree on the blocker before the pull, usually the tank or a sturdy melee. The circle sizes are not in the data block, so learn them on your first pull. The guide also says to strike at the doppelganger, not at the prey.

Ferocious Horn Nuakum“Despair! For you will never halt the Abyss!”
    Advice

The tank does the work here: move Nuakum so that his attacks land on the energy. In the client data, the cast's circle of 6 m around his target only affects things on Nuakum's side, not players: so his target, usually the tank, stands within that distance of the energy.

Ferocious Horn Nuakum“Show your willingness to be sacrificed!”
    Advice

The client's English line for this cast says "Vakron", the final boss of another dungeon: a copy error in the English text only (the French and German lines name no boss), and the mechanic is Nuakum's. Our reading of "take turns": whoever takes a hit carries Hunt Mark for its duration, so the next hit goes to another player. Not checked in game.

Loot: the cube is the reward

The bosses themselves drop almost nothing. What you came for is in the cube each of them leaves, and opening a cube costs a resource that every character refills over time.

How the cube worksGame client
  1. Defeat a boss
Each of the 3 bosses leaves its own Odyle Energy Cube.
  2. Open it with Odyle Energy
    40Exploration40ConquestOne claim per cube.
  3. Fill Condensed Cube Energy
Every claim counts. When it is full you pick one Guaranteed Reward:Explorationafter 3 claimsConquestafter 28 claims
  4. Collect it before you go back
Dungeons can be entered after collecting the guaranteed reward.
Odyle Energy holds up to 560 (840 with a membership) and refills 15 every 3 h.
Worked out from those numbers: a full bar opens 14 cubes in Conquest, and a day of refill (120) opens 3.
[Conquest/Transcendence] Remaining Unobtained Cube Count
  • Clearing and exiting the dungeon without obtaining Odyle Energy Cube rewards will still lower the count.
  • The count resets weekly. You cannot enter Conquest and Transcendence Dungeons when the count is 0.
  • Limit is applied on a per-server basis.
The client's entrance data takes 1 of this count per entry, so a cap of 10 gives 10 runs a week. Whether opening cubes uses more is not checked in game. The Guaranteed Reward needs 28 claims: at least 10 full runs with 3 cubes each.

Worth running it for

Chance per cube you openGame client

The last column assumes you open all 3 cubes of one run. Cubes also hold fixed rewards and more gear: Every drop with its odds

Guaranteed Reward: pick one

Advice
  • Short on Odyle Energy? Open the final boss cube first: for Wrathful Ego it gives 2.4% a cube, against 0.8% from a mini-boss cube, and every claim counts toward the Guaranteed Reward all the same.
  • In Exploration the pick comes after 3 claims: take the armour piece your set is missing first.
  • In Conquest the counter is far longer (28 claims), and the pick also offers Gear Change Voucher: Ferocious Horn Den (Bound). Take an armour piece while your set has holes. After that the voucher is your sure way to a Guard: its own text says it can become a Guard or a gear selection chest, while Nuakum Guard drops at only 0.85% a full run.
  • Wrathful Ego, Wrathful Mind and Wrathful Will are tradeable crafting materials (their item pages say what they make): keep or sell them even if you do not craft yet.
