Aion 2 Shugo Festival & Dimensional Invasions Guide
The Shugo Festival at level 45: the hourly clock, all nine mini-games with tips, reward keys, what a reward pays, the Festival Shop and Dimensional Invasions.
On this page
Every hour, on the hour, the Shugos open a festival of short mini-games, and every half hour a Dimensional Invasion drops Balaur on the map. Both pay the same thing: Centuryroot Tokens for the Festival Shop, Enhance Stones, Abyss Points and materials. At level 45 they are one of the cheapest sources of Daevanion Crystals and Stigma Shards in the game, and they cost no energy, only reward keys that refill every day.
Every name, time and price below comes from the EU client data. Tips that are our opinion are marked as advice.
In 30 seconds
- It unlocks with the story. Elyos get it from Visions in Smoke, Asmodians from Urgent Pursuit, both recommended at level 13. Dimensional Invasions open at level 45.
- Games start on the hour, invasions at half past, every hour of every day. Each opens a 3-minute entry window, then runs for 3 to 5 minutes (an invasion runs for 10).
- Every reward cube costs a key. After a game you pick reward cubes: a better rank lets you pick more, and each pick spends a key. You get 4 Shugo Festival Reward Keys a day for each character (8 with the membership) and 3 a day in a pool shared by your characters on the server. Dimensional Invasion Reward Keys come at 1 a day per server.
- Play at 45. Rewards follow your level bracket, and the level-45 bracket is the richest.
- Spend the tokens on the Festival Shop: Daevanion Crystals and Stigma Shards first.
How it works
The Shugo Festival appears in the Navigator's Event tab. The Shugo Festival menu shows which games are open and holds the Festival Shop. You join a game during its entry window.
| Shugo Festival games | Dimensional Invasions | |
|---|---|---|
| Opens | Story quest, level 13 | Level 45 |
| Start | Every hour on the hour | Every hour at half past |
| Entry window | 3 minutes | 3 minutes |
| Length | 175 to 300 seconds, by game | 600 seconds |
| Reward key | Shugo Festival Reward Key | Dimensional Invasion Reward Key |
| Rewards | By rank and level bracket | Same reward pools as the festival |
Elyos and Asmodians each have their own schedule, with the same times. The client stores the schedule in server time; the Event Timer converts it to your clock.
The nine festival games
The EU client sets up nine games with rewards. Each has its own instance and rules; you are ranked against the other players in it.
| Game | Length | Goal |
|---|---|---|
| Jump Jump | 175 s | Touch festival balloons, avoid the lasers |
| Wraith Evasion | 300 s | Collect Odyle Drops while wraiths chase you |
| Mysterious Track | 300 s | A race on your pet |
| Hidden Lugi | 210 s | Hide as a Lugi or hunt them as a Shugo |
| Odyle Flight Frenzy | 210 s | Fly through a canyon collecting Odyle Drops |
| Goldrin's Treasure | 230 s | Find treasure chests before time runs out |
| Defend Shugo Merchants | 300 s | Hold off waves of bandits |
| Up! Up! Up! | 300 s | Climb a tower of moving platforms |
| Not This Tile? | 195 s | Memorize tiles over 8 rounds |
Two more games are in the client files (Nyerk Shooter and Shugo's Dilemma) but have no rewards attached and aren't flagged as festival games, so don't expect them yet.
One tip per game
- Jump Jump. Every balloon scores and every laser touch costs points. Jump over the beams rather than running through gaps: a clean run beats a fast one.
- Wraith Evasion. Getting caught turns you into a wraith, and a wraith can't collect. You turn back by catching another player, so if you're caught early, hunt the nearest Daeva at once.
- Mysterious Track. Items on the track give boosts and obstacles slow you down. Take the item lines even if they're a little longer.
- Hidden Lugi. Lugi score by collecting Odyle Drops without being spotted; Shugos score a lot by finding a hidden Lugi. As a Lugi, stop moving when a Shugo looks your way. The game needs at least 2 players to start.
- Odyle Flight Frenzy. Fly through the rings: they give speed and keep your Flight Power up. Missing rings is how you run out of flight halfway.
- Goldrin's Treasure. Beams of light point to nearby chests. Look up and around before you run.
- Defend Shugo Merchants. Petrification Chests freeze the enemies. Exploding insectoids are immune to petrification and hit hard when they blow up, so kill them first and away from the merchants.
- Up! Up! Up! You become a Gravi and climb moving platforms. Your rank depends on the last checkpoint you reached; you must reach the first checkpoint to earn a reward at all. The client recommends keyboard controls.
- Not This Tile? Tiles flash their colors and paths for a moment. Your rank is your total over 8 rounds, so one bad round doesn't ruin a game.
Advice: the Shugo Festival menu shows which games are open. When you can choose, the short ones (Jump Jump, Not This Tile?) are the easiest to rank well in with practice. Learn those two first.
Dimensional Invasions
At half past every hour a Balaur invasion opens. There are three: Beritra Air Raid, Accursed Sword and Incursion of the Spirits. Each is a 10-minute fight against waves of enemies and bosses with the other players who joined. They pay from the same reward pools as the festival games, at your level bracket. The Event Timer shows the next one.
Reward keys
When a game ends, you pick reward cubes (the client calls them Monster Cubes). How many you may pick depends on your rank, each pick spends a key, and a failed run (for example missing the first checkpoint in Up! Up! Up!) pays nothing. Keys refill at the daily reset ( provisional server time) and stop at a cap, so you don't have to play every day.
| Key | Refill | Cap | Shared by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shugo Festival Reward Key (character) | 4 a day (8 with the membership) | 28 (32 with the membership) | Character |
| Shugo Festival Reward Key (server) | 3 a day | 12 (21 with the membership) | All your characters on the server |
| Dimensional Invasion Reward Key | 1 a day | 7 | All your characters on the server |
Advice: the server pools are shared by your alts. Spend them on your main first, and only send alts into games with their own character keys.
What a reward pays
Rewards follow your level bracket (10–15, 16–20 and every five levels after that to 36–40, then 41–44 and 45–49). At level 45, a reward from a festival game or an invasion draws from these pools:
| Reward | At level 45 |
|---|---|
| Tens of tokens per reward; the main currency | |
| 700 to 1,200 per pool | |
| 320 to 800 per pool | |
| In the keyed pool | |
| Odyle and smelting materials | Common to Unique grade, by chance |
| Field gear | Common to Unique grade, by chance |
| 10% chance |
Two things stand out:
- The level-45 bracket is the best. Compared with 41–44, it pays more Abyss Points (800 instead of 600 in the keyed pool) and it is the first bracket with a 15% chance at a Unique gear piece.
- The gear is not an upgrade. It is field gear for levels 13 to 30. The value of the festival at 45 is in the tokens, Enhance Stones and Abyss Points.
The Festival Shop
Centuryroot Tokens buy from the Festival Shop in the Shugo Festival menu. Limits are per character unless marked otherwise.
| Item | Price (tokens) | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| 50, then 100, 200 and 400 as you buy more | 10 + 10 + 15 + 15 = 50 in total | |
| 300 | 35 in total | |
| 50 for a bundle of 100 | 30 bundles a month | |
| 1,000 | 3 a month | |
| 20 | 1 | |
| 2,100 | 1 | |
| 4,200 | 1 | |
| 8,350 | 1 | |
| 3,600 | 1 | |
| Pantheon Artworks (10) | 2,000 each; | 1 each |
| Lightpath Trace and Skilled Expert skins, Twilight Loop and Starry Starry Night accessory skins | 530 to 5,400 per piece | 1 each |
What it costs to clear the useful part:
- All 50 Daevanion Crystals: 10,500 tokens (500 + 1,000 + 3,000 + 6,000).
- All 35 Stigma Shards: 10,500 tokens.
- The three wings: 14,650 tokens. Wings also add their Owned Effect stats to your character for good, even when you wear other wings.
Advice, in this order:
- The first 20 Daevanion Crystals (50 and 100 tokens each), the cheapest points in this shop.
- Stigma Shards, if your four stigmas aren't at level 15 yet. The Abyss, Arena and Nightmare shops sell them too, for other currencies, so the festival adds to those rather than replacing them.
- The remaining crystals.
- Soul Crystal bundles every month if you level pets: 1,500 tokens buys 3,000 Soul Crystals.
- Wings and Artworks for their stats, once the points are done. Skins last.
The Festival Shop sells no Wisdom Stones (skill points) in the EU client; see our leveling priorities for where those come from.
A plan for casual players and min-maxers
You get seven festival keys a day (4 character keys and 3 from the server pool). A good rank lets you spend several of them on one game, so two or three strong games a day can use the whole refill. The caps decide how long you can stay away:
| Pool | Full after, without the membership | With the membership |
|---|---|---|
| Character keys | 7 days (28 ÷ 4) | 4 days (32 ÷ 8) |
| Server pool | 4 days (12 ÷ 3) | 7 days (21 ÷ 3) |
| Dimensional Invasion keys | 7 days | 7 days |
Casual (20 minutes a day): one game and the invasion half an hour later. If your keys pile up, play a few games in a row on a free evening to bring them back under the caps.
Min-maxers: a key that refills into a full pool is lost. Without the membership the server pool is the first to fill, after 4 days, so play at least a few games every fourth day, and on your main first, since your alts share that pool.
FAQ
What happens when I run out of keys? Each reward cube spends a key, so with no keys left you can't claim cubes until the daily refill.
Why did I get no reward? The run counts as failed (for example, you didn't reach the first checkpoint in Up! Up! Up!), or you had no keys left.
Is the festival worth it before 45? It unlocks at 13 and pays at every level, but the level-45 bracket is the best. Advice: while leveling, spend keys only when a pool is about to hit its cap.
Why can't I enter a game that's running? You can only join during the 3-minute entry window at the start of each hour (or half hour for invasions).
Which game is on right now? The Shugo Festival menu shows the open games, and the Event Timer shows the next windows in your time zone.
