Item Level…How skills, Specialties and chains work
- Skills are bought with skill points up to level 10; level 1 is free. You get 203 points by level 45, plus one-time Wisdom Stones from quests and Seal dungeons.
- Bonus levels from Daevanion, gear and Arcana raise a skill further. The total level opens Specialty slots at skill level 8/12/20 and unlocks the stronger options.
- Chains are follow-up skills. Some are always on; the others turn on when you equip the right Specialty option or raise a stigma to the right level. Each chain has a 3-second window.
- Stigmas cost Stigma Shards up to level 20 and only work while equipped: 4 slots at level 45.

How many skill points do I get by level 45?
203 skill points from levels 1 to 45, plus 180 one-time points from Wisdom Stones (quests and Seal dungeons). One skill costs 21 points from level 1 to 10.
How do I unlock a chain skill?
Equip the Specialty option that adds it, once the skill reaches its unlock level. For example: Infiltrate → Dark Strike (Specialty 4). Built-in chains such as Quick Slice → Breaking Slice → Swift Slice are always on.
When do stigma slots unlock?
Stigma slots open at character levels 22, 27, 32, 37; you can equip 4 stigmas at level 45. Levels alone give 29 Stigma Shards by level 45.
