Soul Binding & Sub-stats Explained

How Aion 2's Soul Binding rolls random sub-stats on gear: real stat pools and roll weights from the EU client, Soul Binding and Soul Re-Binding costs, and the Arcana skill sub-stats.

На этой странице

Two copies of the same weapon in Aion 2 are almost never equal. The difference is Soul Binding, the system that gives each piece of equipment its own set of random sub-stats. Knowing which rolls matter, and what a re-roll costs, is the difference between "geared" and "actually strong". Everything below comes from the item data of the EU/NA client.

What Soul Binding does

Soul Binding a piece of equipment adds random sub-stats on top of its fixed base stats. In the EU client some gear has to be Soul Bound before you can equip it (the client message reads "Can only be equipped after Soul Binding"). The number of sub-stats depends on the item. Real examples from the database:

ItemGrade (in-game)Item levelRandom sub-stats
Vagabond BowRare302
Lunatic BowEpic453
Ludra's Blade of ExtinctionUnique1023
Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord GreatswordUnique1025

Look at the last two rows: two Unique greatswords of the same item level roll 3 and 5 sub-stats. The count is set per item, not just by grade, so check each item's database page instead of guessing from its color.

The stat pool: what you can roll

Each item has its own weighted pool. Here is the actual sub-stat pool of the Splendent Ebony Dragon Lord Greatsword, with roll ranges and weights from the client (stat names as the game shows them):

Sub-statRoll rangeRelative weight
Critical Attack83 – 1028,000
Accuracy79 – 988,000
MP177 – 2118,000
HP357 – 4188,000
Precision22 – 327,000
Attack38 – 517,000
Critical Hit59 – 757,000
Back Attack83 – 1027,000
Front Attack83 – 1027,000
Block48 – 627,000
Multi-hit Chance8.32% – 9.64%6,000
Might22 – 326,000
Combat Speed11.23% – 12.98%4,000
Weapon Damage Boost8.32% – 9.64%4,000
Status Effect Chance22.20% – 25.60%4,000
Damage Boost6.29% – 7.30%2,000

Think of the weights as lottery tickets. Flat stats like Accuracy, HP and MP are common rolls. The percentage stats (Combat Speed, Weapon Damage Boost and especially Damage Boost, the rarest roll in this pool at weight 2,000) are the ones worth hunting. A "perfect" greatsword rolls those at the top of their ranges.

Costs: Soul Binding and Soul Re-Binding

Soul Binding costs Kina plus a Soul Codex, and the price rises with the item's grade. The first step from the client's cost table:

GradeFirst Soul BindingSoul Re-Binding (each attempt)
Common1,200 Kina + 1 Soul Codex15,000 Kina + 1 Soul Codex: Reset
Rare2,500 Kina + 1 Soul Codex45,000 Kina + 1 Soul Codex: Reset
Epic10,000 Kina + 3 Soul Codex150,000 Kina + 2 Soul Codex: Reset
Unique30,000 Kina + 10 Soul Codex300,000 Kina + 3 Soul Codex: Reset

Later steps cost more. On Unique gear the table climbs from 30,000 Kina + 10 Soul Codex up to 632,000 Kina + 102 Soul Codex. Don't like your rolls? Soul Re-Binding uses Soul Codex: Reset plus Kina, a flat price per attempt for each grade. Re-rolls are the real long-term sink: each attempt costs the same, but hitting the top percentages on a 5-sub-stat Unique can take a very large number of attempts.

Re-roll priority

Re-roll your weapon first. Weapon pools carry the damage-boost percentages that scale all of your damage, while armor pools are mostly defensive flat stats. One great weapon roll is worth several decent armor rolls.

Arcana sub-stats: gear that levels skills

Aion 2's Arcana (Chalices, Bells, Compasses, Mirrors and Parchments in the item database) roll a special kind of sub-stat: skill levels. An Arcana's pool is a class-specific list of real skills. A Gladiator's Chalice, for example, draws from 22 Gladiator skills, including Keen Strike, Leaping Slam and Crushing Wave, each at about 4.5% odds. A rolled skill starts at +1 and can grow to +4 as the Arcana is enhanced.

This is the system's endgame twist: part of your rotation's damage depends on which skills your Arcana happened to boost. When a guide says a skill is your priority, check whether your Arcana already covers it. The Arcana guide explains slots, sets, enhancing and drops.

Checklist

  1. Soul Bind everything you'll wear for more than a few days. Unbound gear leaves free stats on the table, and some gear can't even be equipped without it.
  2. Read the pool before re-rolling. Every item's page in the database lists its exact sub-stat pool, ranges and weights.
  3. Chase percentages, keep flat stats. Damage Boost and Combat Speed rolls are the rare wins.
  4. Weapon before armor, and Arcana skill rolls before both if your build depends on one specific skill.

All numbers above come from the EU/NA client. Pool weights and costs are exactly what a patch tends to change, so we re-check them after every client update.

The game data on Aion2.gg comes from the EU/NA game client, version 2.0.7.0 (Steam build 25926599), extracted on October 16, 2026.
